I got nominated by a friend for the Surf Trash Challenge 2017. The challenge asks that you go to a beach, pick up at least a bag full with trash, and nominate at least 3 other friends.
I went to the Beach in Hermosa Beach, California. I honestly thought it would be hard to find trash, because the beaches in that area are usually pretty clean. I was definitely wrong... I found a lot of trash!
I found two big balloons. These are commonly mistaken for jellyfish by sea turtles and birds. I also found a plastic bag, and I found plenty of other plastic and trash which could have harmed dolphins, birds, sealions, and other ocean animals.
Picking up trash helps you protect the animals living in the ocean. It is a delicate ecosystem that is being torn apart by our influence. Every piece of trash could make the difference between life and death for an animal. If you see it sitting there, or floating by, then take a second to grab it.
Instead of nominating three other friends I want to bring the Surf Trash Challenge 2017 into 2018. I nominate you! If you are watching this clip right now, then I ask you to nominate at least three other friends. Post your clip under my post on Facebook! I want you to help us protect the ocean!
